Headline
N°7 - SEPT./OCT. 2002

The DG Enterprise launched an focus group on enterprise clusters and networks

At the beginning of 2002, the DG Enterprise of the European commission launched a working group on clusters and networks. This group gathers experts coming from the 15 Countries Member and the 10 EU candidate countries. Its aim is to make proposals to foster the networking of SMEs in European countries and to promote transnational exchange between clusters.
Jean-Marie Rouillier, President of the French Club of Industrial District (CDIF) is representing France to this focus group. During the first meetings, the group :
1/ worked on a common definition of a cluster to speak a common language
2/ analysed the clustering development in different European countries (the French experience seems to be more important than other countries'one!)
3/ made proposals to increase the inter-firms networking development.
A report should be published at the end of 2002. Some more information in a next newsletter LPS info!
